These pictures were made during two journeys in the DDR-East Germany , in 1985 and 1986 . The country at the time left me an impression of quietness . Towns and villages felt something between decay and time travel . People lived without stress even if sometimes on the verge of a quiet despair . Many places had a 1950-1960 touch that I loved .
